Has anyone ever used this for their ducting? I was attempting to find ASTM 2729 when I ran across this PIP at an irrigation supplier. At 90 cents a foot  it's by far the best price.

Yes there is a downside, two actually. The OD is smaller 6.140 vs 6.275) than 2729 so you need different fittings, some of which aren't even made (wyes) and the wall thickness is only .076 vs .100.

For the fittings that can't be found some 'creative engineering' may be required to adapt normal fittings or, at that price I could afford to experiment and make my own.

The deal breaking question is, will this stuff work in a dust collection system without collapsing?

Has anyone had ANY experience with this stuff?

Hi,

I cannot imagine 24 thousands making a difference in whether it collapses or not. Stand on a 2' peice of it....if it collapses then I wouldn't use it. Dust collector Produces approx. 1/2 PSI of vacuum which will collapse 30 GA. galvanized stove pipe.

Matt,

I went and looked at it, it's plenty strong enough. Through my research I (at least in my area) I never could locate 2729. I found a number of alternatives (like PIP and IPS) but all of them were cost prohibitive when it came to proper fittings.

I will end up getting SDR35 ($1.68/ft) from Barrons and fittings from Morrison (wye-$14.36, 45-$7.39, couplers- $4.54).

For anybody in this area (Las Cruces, NM) these are the cheapest suppliers.
