I am considering installing a Clear Vue cyclone system in my basement shop. There are two big constraints. One is that the ceiling is low, being only 86 in. The floor is concrete, and the ceiling is concrete. Ed helped me arrive at an approach for dealing with this; see the attached drawing. The second constraint is that I live in a condo, so noise control is important. The condo above the basement ceiling is not mine, and I don't want to become the condo monster. I've read the postings dealing with noise levels and have tried to incorporate some approaches others have discussed. My initial ideas are indicated in the attached drawing. These are: attach a muffler between the blower and filters, use shock mounts for any attachments to the building structure (or use unattached rack mounts), use flexible hose connections between the blower and muffler, and attach acoustic insulation to the wall and ceiling areas adjacent to the cyclone and blower. I am interested in getting suggestions for additional noise suppression methods (I cannot enclose the system in a separate space from the two-car garage work area). Also, any suggestions about the approach for dealing with the low ceiling are of interest (I am aware that the rather sharp 90 degree turn at the top of the cyclone is not desirable, but I don't see much choice given the low ceiling).
