After reading a thread that included information about the possibility of the motor overheating due to insufficient resistance in the duct work, I began to question whether the clear vue cyclone setup would be appropriate for my 12x12 shop. I haven't figured out the ducting diagram yet, but would assume that it wouldn't be very much PVC, then a 6 foot hose in a couple spots with blast gates. Am I at risk of over working the motor?
Should I consider adding a blast gate closer to the inlet, and adjust accordly to reach a safe operating resistance in the ducts? I'm I over analysing this? Thanks for your help!

Oh btw, here's the quote that got me thinking....

[Bob, glad it helped. The motor actually works hardest when there is little or no resistance. Piping and also tools add resistance. That's why you want blast gates if you are using piping to multiple tools, so you can close the unsed ones off so the motor runs easier. The motor runs easiest, pulling the least amount of amps when the ducting is completely closed off. Makes no sense, but that's how motors and impellors work.
Wish I was at home making some sawdust!! Jim.[

Thanks.
