I finished the install a couple of weeks ago and this thing is awesome. However I see some dust stays in the lower part of the cyclone spinning around. It has started scratching up the plastic to a point where it appears frosted. I'm using a 30 gal metal can with an HVAC take off for the hose. The take off has a double stick foam on the bottom and I added screws and silicon over the screws and around the seam. The hose has 2" UL foil duct tape all around on both ends. I have a 3/8 x 1/2 inch rubber gasket on the lid for sealing to the can. I put foil tape inside over the areas where the handles are mounted. I have also caulked with silicon the side seam and all around the bottom.

It is not a lot of material staying in but enough that it can be seen swirling around from about the bottom of the suction tube all the way to the bottom. Is this normal?

Mike, while I'm using mine, I get some that seems to stay suspended about 1/3 of the way up the cone, but it drops to the barrel when I turn the unit off. Is this what you are experiencing? If so, it is normal. I haven't had it scratch the plastic though. Some of the small particles stick to the sides at times, but a light thump from a finger and it drops. It is an awsome machine, isn't it?!!! Jim.

Yes this is what I'm seeing, at first I had a few small leaks from the can. I work with ABS plastic as well as wood. I suspect that the plastic particles have caused the scratching becuase of the sharp edges. It is not as pretty but it works great. I have noticed that the shop stays much cleaner now. Next step is to quite the thing down, @10 feet it is about 85db. Measured 1 ft from blower output into filter 102db.
