View Full Version : Where does the ground go on the line from the remote to the relay?

The ground on the line coming from the remote to the relay has to go somewhere (doesn't it?). I don't think it matters whether I have a full bin sensor or not - I'm either connecting directly to the CV-supplied relay or to the one that goes with the full bin sensor. I've looked at the picture supplied by McRabbet in my thread about the Fasco relay, and I see one bare ground wire that doesn't seem to go anywhere, or at least it's obscured by other wires (I'm talking about the one in the lower right of the picture, not the one on the 240V line that goes straight through on the left).

Edit: I've got the 120v side of the system wired from the wall to the relay. Right now, the ground is not connected to anything, and the relay works (or it at least clunks when I turn it on & off).

The green ground wire can connect to any outgoing 120V circuit ground and is not needed on the coil side of the Fasco contactor. You could connect it to the frame of the Fasco contactor as it is defined as an equipment ground. Do NOT connect it to the bare wire in the 230V side as that is not a ground wire.
