Default pvc ducting.. where to get it

I live in southern ontario and don't have a clue where to even look for the stuff. You can get the thin walled pvc pipe up to 4" and any of the big box stores, but nothing over 4"

I am 45min from Niagara Falls USA, and have no problem driving to get it. But I tried the Home Depot there and again only the 4" stuff. HELP I need to get this cyclone working and all I am missing it the duct work.

the cycone is in the middle of the garage. I have machines on both sides so I need to split the 8" to two 6" ducts running down each side of the garage.

Need to get something to Y out from 8" down to two 6", then 2 90's, 4 wyes, 4 45's and I'm done.

HELP ANYONE.

8" PVC is going to be very hard to find, and what I understand, very expensive when you do. You might do metal to your first wye, then split to 6". Many say the John Deere irrigation people have it. I'd look for the biggest supplier to the plumbing industry and try them. Maybe call a plumber you've used and tell them what you need, and ask where they get their pipe. Horizon has a place in Gaithersburg MD, but that would be a drive. There has to be someone closer. At last resort because of the shipping, you can get it from McMaster-Carr online. Not sure if they can ship 10' lengths or not...maybe by truck. But either way, the shipping would be a killer!! Jim.

Per this old thread by Rod & Denise Nikkel back in 2007, IPEX is a Canadian source that you may want to pursue. They do a great job of describing the specifics of S&D thin-wall PVC pipe. Jim's thread has good info, too.

Try googling "8 inch SDR 35 PVC pipe". The gasketed form is used for sewer pipes and 6 and 8 inch is common. Getting a Y may be more difficult.

Default 6" PVC Pipe

Try this company: Wolseley Waterworks Group. It's a Canada-wide company. They have an office here in Thunder Bay and that's where I bought mine (2008). Google the name.

Here are some numbers from my invoice:

6" X 10' PVC STD Sewer Pipe #005360
6" X 45D PVC Elbow SDR35 BDS #040506
6" X 6" X 6" WYE SDR35 BDS #04306 (not sure about this # as it was penciled in. Could be 040306)
6" X 6" X 4" WYE SDR35 BDS 040307
6" X 4" Reducer Bushing #040896

Took me a long time to find this stuff here in the bush! Should be easier for you closer to the GTA.

My Pipe and fixtures set me back $500 for my 20 X 24 shop. My pipe was the white stuff you see in all the pictures. The fittings were made of a little heavier material.

Good Luck

It may have been close to a year to get this installed but I am close to done. For my solution, I ended up going to my local Rona and buying an HVAC 8" T, that is very close to a y connector at the leg side. My ClearvueMax is located in the centre of the back wall my garage work shop. This gave me some head room to mount the unit slightly higher to fit the motor into the ceiling space and bring the duct work closer to ceiling level for maximum headroom clearance. But mostly it gave me room to fit in a 55gal plastic drum below the cyclone for chip collection.

From the unit, I went with a 90 degree bend up that connects to the T. This was then choked down to 6" on either side, to feed the machines on either the left or right side of the shop.

I got my 6" PVC from Wolseley Canada. They did initially charge and arm and a leg for the D2729 pie ($59 for a 10' length) but I told them that was way too expensive, and they found a better source ($28 for a 10' length). I don't know if it's cheaper down in the USA, but this was located 15min from my house, so getting it was far easier than driving down to the usa and back.

After careful planning and buying an extra pipe just in case, when it came to doing the actual install, the design got changed as I decided to install an Excalibur overhead dust port to my TS and run the pipes differently. So I am now about 10' short of pipe. Back to Wolseley for more.

I will take a photo later today to give a glimpse of what is there right now.

Default ClearVue completion

Congrats on the progress. You'll be a very happy camper when it is all done! Glad you were able to find a Wolseley.
