Fired it up and ran some chips through it. Sucks really good but larger chips swirl around the cyclone body and do not drop into the bin? Is this what should happen? I thought it would shoot all chips and dust into the bin?

Sounds suspiciously like a bin leak to me. Time to check with an incense stick.

As long as the chips aren't going up through the fan and out the exhaust/filters, I'd think it was normal. If there was a leak, nothing would be in the barrel and the filters would be full. Jim.

I’ve had big chips spin around in my DIY Pentz cyclone, can’t see ‘em though until they pass thru the 6in. Plexiglas tube to the bin. They do get pushed down by other chips but sometimes the last ones don’t drop until the cyclone is shut down. It depends on the weight and size. Like spinning a ball in a spray paint can.

I did find a very small leak and closed it but larger chips still spin around. I think it is OK though since others see similar spinning. I opened the blast gate on my bandsaw that has lots of finer dust in it from not using a DC on it for the last 6 months. That dust SHOT right down into the bin! hahahahahaaaa.... this thing is awesome! Thanks for the replies everyone.
