Hi Ed,
Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for all of your help on making the decision to buy one of your cyclones and with my subsequent questions on getting it installed.  This has to be absolutely one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  I had great expectations, but it has surpassed them all.  Wood dust and chips have been a battle (and a losing one at that,) my entire woodworking career up until now.
My friends were starting to think they might need to have me committed.  They couldn't imagine anyone getting so excited about a "vacuum cleaner."  As they have come by my shop and seen the Clear Vue in action, they now understand.  (At least they say they do and are still plotting my committment.)
Ed, thank you and Bill Pentz from the deepest recesses of my sinuses and lungs.  Woodworking to me is like riding motorcycles; I love them and I cannot imagine life without them, but I really don't want to die because of them.  If there is ever anything I can do for you or if you ever find yourself in the Houston area, please look me up.
Best regards,
Paul Slaton

Subject: Clear Vue Vac Conversion

Ed and Matt,

I thought that I would let you know that I received my vac conversion this week and have been very impressed with how well it works.  I vacuumed up a couple of piles of dust and shavings (like in your video) and it worked great.  I was wondering how well it would do on a couple of my machines so I hooked it up to my old 8" Makita jointer and my new Makita planer.  I was very happy with the results.  It took all the shavings from the jointer (it was set a 1/16"), and everything that the planer threw at it (about 1/16" cuts also).  I was shocked at how little clean up I had afterwards. This works much better that my old 1HP Reliant dust collector, which is pretty much worthless and is going in the trash next week.  I look forward to installing a full size cyclone in my shop (I mean garage) in the near future.

Thanks for making a great product (that doesn't say "Made in Taiwan" on it)

Subject: Up & Running

Dear Ed,

I have  had the cyclone up and running for two weeks now at an altitude of 6872'.  It is a wonderful machine and runs as advertised.  It is very powerful and does an excellent job removing all my dust.  I do mostly basswood carving with power tools and sanders, that creates a lot of fine dust particles.  My red flannel shirt used to turn white from the basswood dust.  Now I can't find a single dust particle on my shirt. My basement shop appears dust free.  I have to stand clear of the 6" ports when they are open, they'd like to pull my arm up the shoot!  I put 1/4" hardware cloth over the openings to keep my hand tools from getting sucked up.  The dust blower closet with the double walls, fiberglass insulation, and green glue between two sheets of drywall eliminated  virtually all of the motor and impeller noise. I have two vent openings in the closet for return air to the shop.  On the upper vent, nearest the impeller, I installed  3 feet of 8" insulated flex heating duct to act like a muffler, on the lower vent I used baffles only. The vent with the flex duct attached is alot quieter than the vent with the baffles only,  but there is slightly less air exiting from the flex ducted vent. I didn't want to restrict the vent air by putting a second flex duct on the lower opening.  I can stand right next to the closet and have a normal conversation.  The only sound I get in the shop is from the  mighty suction air.

Thanks for all your amazingly prompt help and support with my installation.

Best Regards,

Subject: My cyclone

Ed,

I bought a cyclone from you after much research.  I had nearly ordered from Oneida when I came across Bill's web site.  Close call there.  I researched it thoroughly and even emailed you.  You had responded  quickly and answered all my questions.  Well, I eventually ordered from you.  I finally finished my shop in December.  I am a hobby woodworker but do a little solid surface countertop work on the side for spending money.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with my cyclone.  That thing is awesome!  My lungs thank you.  My shop is also clean and I like that.  The cyclone works every bit as good as advertised.  I just wanted to tell you thanks and I hope your business continues to grow.
The only down side, if there is one, is that the cyclone sucks so hard that there is quite a windy sound in my shop.  I think next summer I will plan to build a small addition attached to one wall and house the cyclone in it.
Thanks again and keep up the good work!
One happy customer!

Hi Ed. Yep, more snow today ....  the winter of the big snow for sure .. watch your news in about another 3 months and you will see some big flooding happening in the West.

Ed, I just read a post from steve (kentucky) regarding his potential to vent outside  instead of return air .. I logged in and offered my 3 cents worth then clicked on send .. then went back to the forum and the message was not there so not sure where it went ....   maby I need a tutorial  ....  anyway FYI.

I must tell you we have been actively back in the shop for over  a week now and the cyclone is performing above and well beyond my expectations. Just doing a superb job of removing the dust and returning the clean air. I no longer can draw a picture in dust on any shop tools  .. this is a real bonus.  My persistant cough is all but gone and I am feeling stronger as each day passes.  I do plan to modify the exhaust/transition  into a straight run of about 8 feet with well insulated pipe then hook up the filters then re direct the return air  hopefully this will cut some of the noise. A spring project when it is warm and no snow.

Have great day

Well, I fired her off today, no piping hooked up yet, but I think I created a Black Hole, awesome power. I feel like Tim the tool man, “more power”.

Subject: 25,000 vs 2,500

Ed,

My neighbor spent $25,000 on his system, and mine came up to about $2,500 with ducting and cost to install. And I should probably add that your system easily equals the suction of his 7.5 hp system, and I think one of the reasons is the 6” plastic pipe. He runs 4” ducting off the main 10” for each machine, but that’s a lot (10 to 12 feet) of 4” runs, often with 90 degree turns, before arriving at the machine.

Thanks for your help.  ---

Subject: My Cyclone unit is now installed

Ed,

Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve got the cyclone installed including the main two runs of the 6” S&D PVC pipe in my garage. I’m waiting on the filters to arrive to complete my installation, but I gave the unit a try today and was amazed – it works as expected – excellent suction and it is cool to see the debris rapidly spin through the cyclone and drop into the collection bin. Once I’ve got the filter unit completed, I’ll take photos and upload them. I’d recommend this unit to anyone who is concerned about running a clean and healthy home woodworking shop.

Thanks,
Steve Dolha

Ed,

I'm very happy to say that the cyclone was delivered today, in perfect shape. I'm impressed with the quality of all the parts I've received. I must say that the quality of your customer service is the most impressive. I'll be sure to tell all about your product and service.

Thanks again, Bob S

Note: The first cyclone that Bob received was damaged by UPS. We shipped him out another unit (at no charge to him) within a day of being notified of the damage.

Subject: Got my Cyclone and blower housing

Hello Ed and Matt,

I got my blower housing and cyclone last week. I’ve been traveling a lot lately, so today I was able to unbox it and take a look. I took them apart and am painting all the MDF pieces to reduce any potential swelling when the summer comes around. I should have them put back together in a few days. I’ll post pictures as I progress.

The fit and finish of the units is exceptional. My father was a machinist, so I can usually tell when a machinest was involved in a project. Both the cyclone and blower housing scream “Machinist Made”. Thank you very very much.

I have the utmost respect for Bill Pentz who went way out of his way to help me. You only meet a guy like Bill a few times in your life. I’m glad you guys were able to hook up with him.

Subject: My Cyclone

I don't recall if I ever sent you pictures of my Clearvue cyclone as installed. It is terrific. Thank you (and Pentz) for cleaning up my air.

Thanks again.

Glen

Hi Ed,

Have had the cyclone up and running for about 5 months now, and I have to say that I'm still very impressed. I took some pictures of it recently, and I'll send you one when I get it onto my computer.

I notice that you are now making a transition from blower to filter, and would like for you to advise on the availability and cost of one to retrofit onto my machine. I made a metal one that seems to be working ok for now, but I think I'd like to continue the 'theme' of the rest of the machine.

Still haven't hooked up my Dwyer digital air velocity meter, but when I do, I'll provide you the numbers. Been involved in a major home addition project, and, well, I'm sure you know how it goes...

Note: John has his pictures posted in our photo gallery section. He did a great job.

Hi Ed,

I received my cyclone kit yesterday, thanks for the quick response, I was expecting a shipping confirmation (I missed sending him this. That doesn't happen very often) and was surprised to find the boxes on my porch so soon (6 days). The cyclone, blower, etc. were in good shape.

There was a minor problem with the motor -- the run capacitor enclosure was bent in about 3/16 inch at the mounting flange (due to the fact that the motor was not fastened to the board and could easily shift in the box). I was able to bend it back and examined the capacitor, it looked ok (no cracks). I tested the motor (on 120V which was easier). It seems to run OK, starts fine.

I was impressed by the way you packaged everything else -- Grizzly brags about their 300+ pound cyclone packaging but yours seems more than adequate and, according to Bill, Grizzly compromised his design to get the packaging to work. The plastic cyclone is undoubtedly able to withstand shipping abuse better than a metal one no matter how heavy it is. Not to mention the plastic cyclone is much lighter and should be easier to install. I am looking forward to getting it installed, but other needs may postpone that for a while.

Wishing you success, keep up the good work.

Al
